tbh this is just a rly stigmatizing post?

  • afaik the “quiet” vs outward borderline distinction is based on stop walking on eggshells by randi kreger which is a rly ableist book that a) equates having bpd with being an abuser b) makes a lot of claims (like the quiet/loud borderline split) based solely on her observation and not on research c) skews the actual symptoms of bpd by ignoring the ones that don’t fit her idea of what bpd is
  • the source here is AAPEL which is a general french language website about BPD. it is NOT A SCIENTIFIC SOURCE and it has a lot of stigmatizing “information” as well, such as the idea that adults with bpd are basically children.
  • idg this dichotomy because most people with BPD i’ve known have a mixture of both inwardly/outwardly directed symptoms.
  • if you look at the data on BPD and self-harm and suicide attempts (ie, inward acting behaviour) there is no distinction between “quiet” and “loud” people with bpd.
  • ie, “”“loud”“”” borderlines also self-harm and attempt and commit suicide on a massive scale
  • the stigma against people with bpd is incredible, but you don’t get to try and escape that by further stigmatizing other mentally ill people
  • again, there are no real fucking sources on this, this was pulled out of someone’s ass
